Workshops

The facilities are used under the supervision of the leaders of the workshops and the workshop consultants. They will offer you advice and instruct you in the use of machines, equipment and tools.

    Project work

The project work itself you carry out alone. You should allow for this in your time schedule when planning your residency at SVK.

    The use of machinery

Any use of machinery in the metal workshop and in the wood workshop is by arrangement with Frank Jensen and Ingvar Rønne. You will also need their permission to work the machinery outside of normal working hours.

    Purchasing materials

It is up to you to arrange for the purchase of materials needed for your project, but the leaders of the workshops and the workshop consultants will be able to advise you. Remember to buy and order in your own name giving your own address. SVK should only be quoted as the place of delivery. It is vital that you are on the premises when the delivery arrives, and you must take care of the payment yourself.

    Freight elevator

There is a freight elevator at the back of the building. The measurements are: Height: 200 centimetres, breadth: 120 centimetres, depth: 240 centimetres, diagonal: 290 centimetres

The workshop is 237 m2 , and the floor-to-ceiling clearance is 2.8 meters. It is suitable for both machining, assembly and testing. The workshop is normally used by two to five resident users at a given time, so you should expect to share the use of workshop facilities with others.

There are a number of specialised techniques that you will not be able to work with on the premises, but in most cases we will be able to refer you to private companies. This would be the case with for instance heat forming of acrylic, veneering, upsetting, steam bending and moulding of very large items.

For further information about the workshops, please contact the leader of the wood workshop Ingvar Rønne.

The computer workshop is equipped with the newest facilities, and designers as well as artists, crafts men and restorers can use the workshop during their residency at the National Workshops.

The use of the workshop is directed to residents whom will only be working on projects in this workshop, - as well as other residents who need to use the computer equipment now and then. Access to the workshop is on the same conditions as the other workshops in the building. That means you need to have a key and you will receive a users manual for the equipment.

Some of the equipment, like the large scale printer and the 3D printer, may only be used by arrangement with the workshop consultant. The resident has to pay an amount for the material consumption for this kind of equipment (paper, gypsum etc).

The equipment in the computer workshop is provided with alarm and GPS.

For more information about the workshop please contact the consultant Walter Terrazos.
